SHILLONG: The Medical Superintendent of Shillong Civil Hospital, Dr SS Nongbri has denied the allegations that Bethany medics were not given entry inside the hospital.
Nongbri on Thursday said that the allegations are false and the hospital has been taking care of all patients apart from COVID-19 cases.
He said that the six people who had come to the hospital for testing were asked to go to quarantine centre but they refused.
It was also said that they called up their headman who told them not to come to the villages and hence the process became very lengthy.
“I spoke to the MLA concerned and these people were put inside and after sometime, a 108 ambulance came and picked them up,” he said.
Earlier, it was alleged that six people who had gone to Shillong Civil Hospital on Tuesday to register themselves as ‘contacts’, were allegedly denied permission to enter the premises by the hospital authorities.
The six persons, including five medical workers and a woman employed as a maid in the residence of Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang, were earlier denied entry into Smit area despite being residents.
Finding no alternative, the six people went to Civil Hospital but were made to wait for hours without food.
