Shops to open on Monday in East Jaintia Hills

Khliehriat: The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills has informed that all fair price shop under NFSA and non-NFSA will open on a daily basis between 9 am and 4 pm from Monday to Thursday.
The DC also said that all identified groceries and essential items shops selling vegetables, meat, fruits, grocery, mobile recharge shops, confectionery shops, cosmetics shops, air filler tyres shops, agriculture/ veterinary fertilisers and pesticides shops, and pharmacies in the different localities are allowed to be opened from 10 am to 1 pm on a daily basis from Monday to Friday.
He also informed the general public that the open market wholesaler shops at Umpleng (Cement Market) will be open from 2 pm till 4 pm from Monday to Thursday in order to enable the rural villages from Saipung, Muallain to come and purchase the essential commodities.
Whereas, open markets wholesaler shops at Lad Rymbai, Khliehriat, Sookilo to open from Monday to Friday between 2 pm and 4 pm in order to help the rural villages from different parts of the district, especially those villages bordering Assam and Bangladesh.
Furthermore, collection centres of electricity bill will be on daily basis at community hall of the village Durbar from 9 am to 4 pm in coordination with village authorities and the office of the MeECL, East Jaintia Hills. Also, mobile repair shops and service centers are permitted to be open in localities of the district.It has also been informed that all banks in the district will be opened from 10 am to 4 pm on daily basis in order to assist the public for banking purposes in coordination with the village authorities falling under their respective service area, cluster villages approach is suggested to be adopted for a particular day in consultation with village authorities to decongest customers coming to the bank.In addition, all registered suppliers and retailers of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department will be open exclusively for sale of livestock, poultry and pet feed only.
The deputy commissioner has also instructed the village authorities to coordinate with the VDP, youth wing in order to regulate the operation of the shops in their respective localities, villages and banking purposes and also to ensure due compliance to the advisories of the government concerning COVID-19 situation and strict reference to social distancing of at least 1 meter as directed by the Department of Health & Family Welfare.
