SHILLONG:  The Phulbari Unit of AHAM has supported the appeal of A’chik Youth Movement for the Betterment of the Society (AYMBS) to deploy paramilitary forces in Rajabala and other adjoining areas as they share the border with Assam and Bangladesh.
In a statement, it said the demand for deployment of paramilitary forces is of utmost importance as there have been reports of sporadic incidents in the area.
It also clarified that although it has no knowledge about the press statement given by the Shillong unit on the issue, there has been no denial from the unit about the sporadic incidents where miscreants have been attacking a particular community who are a minority in the area.
The unit leaders also clarified that they have not given any press release against the AHAM Shillong unit nor made any statement against the press release. “However, we did maintain our ignorance of the press release”, it said.
The Phulbari Unit of AHAM said miscreants have been ill-treating another community taking advantage of the lockdown and the misinformation. They also appealed to NGOs to stop politicising the issue.
