Trio travelling illegally killed in EJH accident

JOWAI: Three persons, who boarded a truck illegally from East Jaintia Hills, were killed after it overturned on Saturday afternoon.
The trio died on the spot after the truck loaded with bitumen went off the road and overturned at Lumshnong.
Police arrested the driver and the helper of the truck in this connection.
According to police, the truck left Beltola, Assam for Mizoram to dispatch bitumen. Only the driver and his helper were inside the truck till reaching East Jaintia Hills.
On reaching an area between Deinchynrum and Byndihati, four persons boarded the truck and all of them hid themselves in between the bitumen drums to avoid police arrest.
While two of them died on the spot, another died in a local hospital after he was rescued by Lumshnong police. The fourth person was pulled out six hours later due to heavy rain and was shifted to Silchar Medical College for treatment.
The bodies have been handed over to family members after post mortem.
