Facilitate farmers’ needs: HNYF

SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) has written to Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh apprising him of the requirements of the farmers.
According to the letter, the HNYF urged the minister to provide crop seeds such as spice, corn, cucumber, tomato as well as fertilisers and pesticides including Urea, Dithane Indofyl, Gems d, Dithane M-45 and Anaconda 505.
The youth body also stated that the farmers are in need of cow dung and other organic manure.
The organisation asked the minister for an early intervention by the department to see that inter-state and inter-district movements of such vehicles carrying manure is not affected by the lockdown.
It also urged Lyngdoh to designate areas in different parts of the districts for farmers to sell their products in the upcoming month.
Lastly, the organisation said that the government should come up with the maximum retail price of the produce to ensure that the farmers get the best deal.
