GUWAHATI: Troops of the Indian Army apprehended two NSCN (IM) cadres in separate locations in Upper Assam, an official statement issued here said on Sunday.
Based on a secret input, an NSCN (IM) cadre identified as Raju Bramo, was apprehended near Lalpahara in Tinsukia in a joint operation with Assam police on Friday.
One .22 pistol and four live rounds of ammunition was recovered from the apprehended person who was later handed over to Lekhapani police station for further investigation.
In another operation, troops of the Indian Army apprehended a senior cadre of NSCN(IM) near Titabor in Jorhat district on April 23. Based on a specific input, the troops established a mobile vehicle check post in the area and during checking, apprehended the cadre while he was trying to escape. He has been identified as Nyaoba Konyak. Two USA-made Beretta pistols with two magazines was recovered.
The cadre, who is suspected to be involved in extortion and kidnapping activities in Upper Assam, was handed over to the Titabor police station for further investigation.
