NONGSTOIN: The victims of lightning will receive ex-gratia from the government.
Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat has assured that the victims struck by lightning recently in West Khasi Hills will get ex-gratia.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Byrsat on Tuesday informed that the documents have been sent to concerned authority through the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
It is a long process and the family members should be patient, the MLA said.
Earlier, two persons died on the spot and three others were severely injured after being struck by lightning on April 21, while working on a paddy field in Mawkadiang.
The kin of 2018 lightning victims received Rs 4 lakh each for the deceased and Rs 12,000 each for injured persons.
Byrsat said that the recent victims will receive the same amount.
