Assam panel to formulate SOP on movement of stranded people

GUWAHATI: A six-member committee has been constituted to formulate standard operating procedures (SOP) for bringing migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded across different places to Assam in a phased manner.
The committee headed by additional director general of police (law and order), G.P. Singh will submit its report within a day.The other members of the committee comprise additional director general of police (security) Harmeet Singh; Assam State Disaster Management Authority chief executive officer, M.S. Manivannan; Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) managing director A.P Tiwari; National Health Mission (NHM) managing director, Laxmanan S. and state transport commissioner, Adil Khan.
The decision to constitute the committee was taken at a meeting of the state level empowered committee, COVID-19, in the office of the Assam chief secretary here on Thursday.
