EPFO settles 532 claims in state

SHILLONG: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Shillong, has also settled 532 claims including 315 COVID-19 claims under Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) scheme so far, a report said.
KK Srivastava, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Shillong, intimated that Rs 1.87 crore have been disbursed to 532 members including 315 COVID-19 claims amounting to Rs 1.25 crore PMGKY.
In the national scenario, the EPFO has settled a total of 12.91 lakh claims, including 7.40 lakhs COVID-19 claims under PMGKY during lockdown. The settling of claims involves disbursal of a total amount of Rs 4684.52 crore which includes Rs 2367.65 crore COVID claims under PMGKY package.
The Centre had recently announced the provision for a special withdrawal from the EPF scheme to fight COVID-19 pandemic as part of the PMGKY scheme.
Under this provision non-refundable withdrawal to the extent of the basic wages and dearness allowances for three months or up to 75 per cent of the amount standing to member’s credit in the EPF account, whichever is less, is provided.
