The new patients are kept in the isolation ward to ensure that they are not together with the existing patients.
Earlier, a few patients from Bethany Hospital were brought to Ganesh Das and they were taken care of by the staff despite the initial anxiety.
“There are 3 patients from Bethany Hospital, 2 from quarantine areas and 7 suspects coming from home”, she said.
The staff looking after the isolation ward are not allowed to check other patients and they are given 7 days’ rest starting from the doctor to the sweeper and they have to report to work again after 7 days.
About the hardships faced by the patients who sometimes sleep on the hospital floors, she said it is a 400-bed hospital and people who come to the hospital for treatment cannot be sent away.
As the hospital does not have a neonatal intensive unit, the government is considering setting up the same.
