Vigilante group member attacked

SHILLONG: A complaint was filed against a group of men who allegedly attacked a resident of Gillagora village in West Khasi Hills.
In a statement issued on Friday, the victim, Saren G Momin, alleged that he was attacked by miscreants while on vigilante duty.
The vigilante group authorised by the SDO of Gillagora, keeps a watch to ensure that outsiders do not cross the border to prevent spread of COVID-19. In his complaint, Momin said that on the evening of April 29, he apprehended Apleson G Momin and others while they were smuggling goods to Bangladesh. However, Apleson along with his companions assaulted Momin who sustained injuries and was immediately shifted to the hospital.
Momin claimed that the accused persons are from Koraibari village in West Garo Hills. The victim and the headman of Gillagora urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action against the accused. The authorities should also conduct medical examination of the accused persons as a precautionary measure against coronavirus, they added.
