FIR against Arnab on hold

SHILLONG: The processing of the FIR filed by Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress against Republic TV Anchor Arnab Goswami is on hold as per the order of the Supreme Court.
An FIR was filed against Republic TV editor, Arnab Goswami with Tura police in West Garo Hills by the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) last month where the Youth Congress accused Goswami of making wilful defamatory attack against Congress President Sonia Gandhi and communalise the Palghar mob lynching incident in Maharashtra.
When contacted, police officials said that as per the court’s order, the processing of the FIR has been stayed and they are awaiting for the apex court’s order for necessary instruction.
The Supreme Court while hearing the matter had said that further proceedings will remain stayed, pending further orders of this court, in respect of any other FIR or, as the case may be, criminal complaint which has been filed or which may be filed hereafter, with respect to the same incident.
