JOWAI: The All Jaintia Cement and Clinker Transporter’s Association (AJCCTA) has expressed concern over the hike in fuel price in the country and particularly in the state. The association said that it has badly affected their profit while transporting cement and clinker within the state and other Northeastern states.
AJCCTA president Balen Thubru said, “As of today, petrol is Rs 75 per litre and diesel is more than Rs 67 per litre, where as cement plants have failed to implement the rate schedule of transportation fixed by the department concerned.”
Thubru informed that the hike in fuel price will affect truck owners and all transporters in the state.
He further stated that the state government has approved Rs. 0.70 paise per ton per kilometer as the new rate for transportation of goods since August, 2018. However, cement plants in East Jaintia Hills have failed to implement the government orders. With the hike in combustion fuel, the AJCCTA has demanded that the government should enforce strict implementation of the rate scheduled by cement companies operating in East Jaintia Hills.
