Govt allows shops & services to open in all districts

NONGPOH/MAWKYRWAT/TURA: The government has decided to allow opening of shops and services so that the public can purchase essential commodities.
In Ri Bhoi, shops and services will remain open for five days across the district from Tuesday to Saturday.
Sale of dry fish or processed fish (including tungtap and smoked fish), collection centres of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Ltd in the community hall of each locality throughout the district, courier services for essential goods and e-commerce operations only for essential goods, common service centres, distribution of packaged drinking water and juices will be permitted.
The headmen in coordination with Ri Bhoi Police will regulate the operation of the shops, services and commercial establishment in their respective localities and villages and will also ensure due compliance to the advisories of the Health department with special and strict reference to social distancing.
In East Jaintia Hills commercial activities resumed on Monday.
The deputy commissioner has urged the public to cooperate with the district administration and the police.
The South West Khasi Hills deputy commissioner informed that all shops are allowed to be opened in the district with effect from Monday except tea stall shops, dairies and restaurants which may be opened only after inspection and regulation by the DC’s Office.
The West Garo Hills district administration has permitted opening of certain shops from Tuesday till 12 pm of May 17.
As per the order, all shops except tea stalls, restaurants and dhabas have been allowed to open in rural areas by strictly following social distancing norms from 8 am to 4 pm while in Tura areas all standalone shops are to be opened except in Main Market areas.
Business establishments at Tura Main Bazaar, Super Market, tea shops, dhabas and restaurants will continue to remain closed and the order also disallows hawkers from operating at crowded junctions and main roads.
