Ri Bhoi College distributes essentials, raises awareness

SHILLONG: The Ri Bhoi College, in collaboration with the NSS Unit, Ri Bhoi College under the NSS Cell, NEHU, distributed rice and potatoes, along with soaps and homemade masks to the households in the adopted village of the NSS unit in Umskun village, Ri Bhoi District. It may be mentioned that the masks were prepared by the NSS volunteers.
The team was led by the two NSS Program Officers and some student volunteers, in the presence of the village headman and a few members of the village community, distributed the essentials to the households.
An awareness programme on COVID-19 was also held where the trained volunteers demonstrated on how to make masks, and discussed hand washing and social distancing etiquette.
Posters in vernacular language, issued by the state government, were also pasted in and around the village by the volunteers to raise awareness on hand hygiene and social distancing.
