Goromari BDO, 3 others arrested for corruption

GUWAHATI:  Kamrup Police on Monday arrested four persons including the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Goroimari, Syed Jainal Hussain for misappropriation of fund meant for distribution of Rs 1000 per poor  beneficiary at the time of COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on the complaint, a case (No. 401/2020 u/s 120(B)/467/409 IPC)  was registered  in Chaygaon Police Station. Meanwhile, the matter came to the notice of Chief Minister, Assam who issued strict instructions to investigate the matter in right earnest and bring all the culprits to book.

During the investigation Kamrup Police found that officials in the rank of BDO and Panchayat Secretary, member of Jorsimalu Gaon Panchayat (GP) in collusion with Samabay Samity agents and others had   siphoned off  public money meant for distribution amongst the poor by indulging in forgery and had also  misappropriated the money.

As sufficient incriminating materials were found, sleuths of Kamrup Police, divided into several groups arrested Syed Jainal Hussain (59) , BDO Goroimari , Sekandar Ali (53), Secretary  of Jorshimulu GP,  Mrs Sahera Khanin m(37) , member of Jorshimulu GP  and Md. Ramjan Ali (53), agent of Goroimari Somabai Sommittee. Further investigation was on
