Night curfew in districts from today

Nongpoh/NONGSTOIN/Mawkyrwat/WILLIAMNAGAR/KHLIEHRIAT: Night curfew has been imposed across the state to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Earlier notification on permitted activities will remain the same while strictly following hygiene and safety guidelines such as social distancing.
Other prohibitory orders such as inter-district and inter-state movement, assembly of people will remain prohibited. 25 per cent of vehicles will also be allowed to ply on the road with 50 per cent capacity, that is, 2 passengers for 4 wheelers and no pillion rider is allowed for 2 wheelers.
In Ri Bhoi, the District Magistrate has imposed night curfew from May 18 to May 31 from 7 pm to 6 am. Construction activities in urban areas will be allowed from May 18 to May 31 from 6 am to 7 pm.
With regard to transport, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, vehicles with yellow passes and non transport vehicles with number ending 0, 2, 4, 6 & 8 can ply on the road while transport vehicles with pink passes and non-transport vehicles with number ending 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 can ply on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Transport and non-transport vehicles are not allowed to ply on Sunday.
In an order issued by the West Khasi Hills District Magistrate, T Lyngwa, curfew will be imposed in the entire district from 7 pm to 6 am from May 18 to May 26 until further notice.
In South West Khasi Hills, the Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo also extended the prohibitions imposed under Section 144 CrPC.
Movement of individuals within the district will remain prohibited between 7 pm to 6 am and plying of vehicles other than essential services and essential commodities is not permitted, she said.
She also said that all other government offices will function at their full strength for Group A and B officers and regulate attendances for Group C and D officials in such a way as to ensure that physical distance is possible at work place.
Weekly market system will remain suspended until further orders. The DC also said that any person violating the order will be punished.
The District Magistrate of East Garo Hills, Swapnil Tembe, has also extended the lockdown and night curfew in the entire district from May 18 to May 22 thereby prohibiting operations of weekly and regular markets, movement of individuals, tea and food stalls, saloons, beauty parlours, commercial, financial and educational institutions, movement of private vehicles except those with valid car passes and the exempted categories, between 7 pm and 6 am.
The retail shops and other permitted outlets will remain open from 8 am to 1 pm.
On Monday, Wednesday and Friday those with number ending in odd number are alloed to ply while even numbers on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Night curfew will come into effect in East Jaintia Hills from May 18 to May 31 from 7 pm to 6 am each day.
