10 secure bail in bear killing case in Pynursla

SHILLONG: The lower court on Monday released on bail ten persons who were involved in the killing of a bear.
The photographs of the tortured animal along with poachers in Pynursla had gone viral on social media.
The bear was caught by villagers of Mawpyrthuh in Pynursla area under East Khasi Hills district on May 4. Later, the villagers were arrested on May 6. Earlier, the forest department had asked the cyber crime wing of the police to trace the location of the post on social media to track the perpetrators.
