SHILLONG: Mawsynram MLA, HM Shangpliang suggested that the government should acknowledge and recognise the hardwork of frontline health workers and give them compensation.

He was speaking at a small programme held at Mawsynram CHC on Monday where he lauded the work of the ASHA and Anganwadi workers working at the field every now and then.

He said that the ASHA and Anganwadi workers have a role to play with regard to checking on the returnees and the people under home quarantine.

“We have to discipline the people who have arrived from outside the state as we have found that 400 returnees have violated the lockdown. We have to surrender the quarantine violators to the ASHA and headmen to ensure that they do not leave till they have completed the quarantine”, he said.
