Assam COVID-19 patient count soars to 157

GUWAHATI: Three more COVID-19 positive cases were detected from Sarusajai Quarantine Centre here on Tuesday night. With these new detection, the total number of COVID-19 positive patients count goes to 157.

Total 23 COVID-19 positive cases were in the state on Tuesday registering the biggest single-day spike in novel coronavirus infection so far in the state.

Elsewhere in Northeast, four persons were tested COVID-19 positive in Tripura today out of the 850 samples tested. All four patients had returned from Chennai and are now under treatment.

One person who had returned to Garo Hills of Meghalaya from Chennai recently, was tested positive today. The person was asymptomatic and has been in institutional quarantine in Tura.  Meghalaya became COVID-19 patient free on Monday with its 12th active patient being declared COVID-19 negative after repeated test as per protocol.
