Positive cases in Assam worry Phulbari MLA

SHILLONG: Witnessing a spike in positive COVID-19 cases in the neibouring Assam, Phulbari MLA, SG Esmatur Mominin has called for intensified medical screening all along the inter-state boundary with Assam to prevent the spread of the virus.
The MLA said that the plains of Garo Hills especially Phulbari shares a wide inter-state boundary with Assam. ‘Fortunately, the area, till date does not have a single positive case’, Mominin said.
Informing that health teams are conducting screening and checking at different entry points like Tikrikilla, Haldiaganj and South Salmanpara, he however asked the government to be stringent with medical screening to returnees.
Assam now has a total of 157 COVID-19 cases.
