M’laya cricket body advices players to start fitness regime

shillong: The Meghalaya Cricket Association has issued advisory notice to all its registered players to start their online/offline sessions with regards to their physical fitness, regular workout, strengthening, health and post injury treatment.
During a zoom conference held recently with the state Physiotherapist and the Strength and Conditioning Coaches, it was decided that during the current lockdown, the players ought to get in touch with the respective support staff and report to them accordingly. The support staffs are advice to work out their own schedule and methods.
“We also work on players; match specific training which is most important training to enhance the player’s performance in match. Now a days lockdown is going on. We can’t stop to provide our services in lockdown, we taking classes by sending the workout plan to players”, says senior men’s trainer Himmat Singh.
Priyanka Mondol, senior trainer for women says, all the S & C coaches of MCA worked hard with their own team. “We focused on player’s mobility, stability, running technique & strength, this all will improve the basic fitness of all players and this all will help them to prevent injury”, she said.
Meanwhile, the National Cricket Academy has started a one week online programme for all the state Physios. Speaking at the end of the first day programme, Wanda Dkhar who is the Physio for women’s senior team said that the module of the NCA web conference is being proposed to achieve the objectives i.e. to learn from each other’s experience of preventing and managing injuries as well as to be a part of a collective vision to continuously raise the state’s standard of care and that due to the COVID-19 pandemic the physiotherapists of the state will stay connected with the players through a medium called Telemedicine. Another physio of the state Manish Kumar said that the objectives of this web meeting are manifolds – Preventive strategies or measures for Covid-19, to avoid any kind of inactivity from the players and maintain the base line fitness, avoid risky exercises and training or Risk management, establishing a proper communication between Physio, trainers and players , rehab and prehab programs for previous injuries/Current injuries/ongoing niggles etc .
