SHILLONG: Senior journalist Various Star Nongsiej passed away on Friday after a brief illness at a private hospital here.
Nongsiej was first associated with Mawphor in 1993 and later he joined Peitngor and worked with the paper till 2009. He also held the post of Editor, Peitngor and Kynjatshai.
Nongsiej, who hailed from Wahingdoh, is survived by his wife and two children.

The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid weekly on 10th August 1945 under the editorship of Late Sudhindra Bhusan Chaudhuri. In 1958 it was converted to a Daily. Owing to financial constraints, within six months it reverted back to a weekly.
