Tripura to benefit by Rs 4,802 cr from PM’s economic package: CM

Agartala: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Rs 20 lakh crore economic package will benefit the people of Tripura to the tune of Rs 4,802 crore apart from other benefits, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said on Friday.
Highlighting the scheme-wise package and possible benefit for the state, Deb said that in each sector, schemes and package, people from all walks of life and profession in the state would benefit immensely.
He added that several thousand people are directly and indirectly associated with the MSME sector. “From the financial package, the MSME sector in Tripura will benefit by Rs 10 crore. Additional banking loan support with less interest rate will be provided to the people involved in the MSME sector,” he said.
Deb said both local and migrant workers would benefit from MGNREGS, as additional funds had been allocated for the scheme. “Guarantee-less banking loans will greatly help small and medium traders, unemployed and enterprising people. Making trade licence mandatory, the Tripura government has providing relaxations in obtaining trade licences,” he added.
Stressing on the expansion and development of the primary sectors of the economy, Deb said that lakhs of people in Tripura can benefit from fisheries and animal resources sectors.
“For the development of fisheries and people associated with the sector, the Tripura government has sent for approval a project of Rs 5,000 crore to the central government. As Tripura imports fish from other states as well s Bangladesh, the project will help earn crores of rupees from fisheries,” he added.
Deb said the BJP had taken a series of initiatives for infrastructure development, especially in health sector.
“Besides, people of Tripura, Bangladeshi nationals will also benefit from development of health infrastructure in Tripura as the state is surrounded by the neighbouring country from almost all sides. Thousands of Bangladeshis currently visit southern Indian states for medical treatment,” the chief minister pointed out. (Agencies)
