COVID cases rise to 32 in Manipur

GUWAHATI: Three more persons in Manipur have been detected positive for cornonavirus, with the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the state rising to 32, an official statement from the state health department said on Sunday.

Two active cases (one 32-year-old male patient from Jiribam district and one 25-year-old female patient from Thoubal district) were confirmed on Saturday night at VRDL, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.

“Another 18-year-old male patient was detected COVID-19 positive on Saturday night at the VRDL, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal East. He is from Churachandpur district and has returned from Chennai,” the statement said.

There are currently 28 active COVID cases. “All the patients are under close monitoring,” it added.

Meanwhile, a Shramik Special train carrying more than 900 stranded people from the state reached Jiribam railway station from Pune on Sunday morning. The train is among the tenth train to reach Manipur.
