SHILLONG: The quarantine arrangements made by the government for the returnees from Bengaluru has made an impression on them and they also praised the state.
It may be mentioned that more than 1400 people returned to Meghalaya from Bangalore in a special train on Thursday night.
A returnee who arrived in the same train and tested negative while speaking to The Shillong Times on Saturday said that they arrived here on Friday and immediately after reaching here, they were provided food.
The returnee who was kept at the NIFT quarantine centre was full of appreciation for the arrangements made for them.
The returnee who did not wish to be identified said that they were given very healthy food during their stay in the quarantine centre.
“They gave us rice, salad, chicken and other dishes. The food was very hygienic but as I am a vegetarian, I was given vegetarian food which even had nutrela,” he said.
He also said that breakfast was also very impressive as they were given bread and butter along with tea.
When asked when he will be allowed to return to his own home, he said that he has no information but he was told by authorities that his tests have come as negative and on Saturday night they were being taken to Polo testing centre again.
“They told us that they will be asking the returnees whether they had proper rooms for quarantine and other details and hopefully after that, we will be allowed to go home,” the returnee said while adding that there were many more who were accommodated in the same facility.
He also said the entire facility was arranged very well with clean rooms and surroundings.
It may be mentioned that close to 10,000 people have already returned to the state and many of them are under home quarantine.
Another 6000 are stranded in different parts of the country mostly from red zone and are scheduled to return to the state within this month.
