Shops to remain open till 6 pm from Wed

SHILLONG:  The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has informed that the listed retail shops, ration shops and others will remain open in Shillong urban agglomeration from May 27 to 30 from 9 am to 6 pm.
The number of selected shops has been substantially increased to 2179 with 20 mobile units, so as to meet the requirements of local residents.
Barring saloons and others, all shops in Sohra and Pynursla Civil Sub-Divisions and in all the C&RD Blocks in East Khasi Hills will open from 9 am to 6 pm daily.
Home delivery and takeaway of food are allowed daily.
Tea stalls will operate only in rural areas barring those along the national highway. Owners of such stalls are required to submit an undertaking to the respective Civil Sub-Divisional Officers of Sohra and Pynursla and Block Development Officers of East Khasi Hills district. Any tea stall found violating social distancing norms will be closed down.
Commercial activities
Food processing units in rural area including rice mills and mustard oil processing, brick kilns, industrial units, cement plants (only 50% capacity), mining of limestone and boulder by lease-holder
for domestic sale in the state or country are allowed.
Export outside the country is permitted only through automated, elevated conveyor belt with no human intervention, quarrying of chips and aggregates including their transportation, all agriculture and allied sectors activities are allowed.
Night curfew to continue
The district magistrate has re-promulgated night curfew in the district from May 25 to 31 from 7 pm to 6 am.
Curfew passes can be obtained via online application at www.eastkhasi-hills.gov.in.
Ban on interstate movement
The district magistrate under section 144 CrPC has also prohibited inter-district and interstate movement, operation of major markets and shopping complexes in all commercial locations, opening of saloons, beauty parlours, spa, similar rejuvenating centres and others.
Vehicles
Fifty per cent of private and public transport will operate in Sohra and Pynursla Civil Sub-Divisions and in all the C&RD Blocks of East Khasi Hills as per notified arrangements.
According to the prohibitory order, public and private vehicles moving with passes in Sohra and Pynursla Civil Sub-Divisions and C&RD Blocks and authorized public vehicles of transport department and private vehicles with passes in Shillong urban agglomeration will move with two passengers and driver for four-wheelers, one pillion rider restricted only to female/child below the age of 12 years with driver for two-wheelers and to utilise only 50% of seating capacity.
However, passes for all forms of inter-district or inter-state movement will only be issued by the district magistrate.
