Earlier, allaying fears over the arrival of several thousands of residents from different parts of the state, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said the health authorities have completed a majority of the tests of those who have returned to the state and almost all have tested negative.
“Almost 99 per cent of the tests of the returnees from Bengaluru and Gurugram have been completed and we had thermal, rapid diagnostic and RT-PCR tests and all three tests have been conducted on every individual”, the chief minister said.
Over 9,500 returnees have already reached the state and around 6,000 more are expected to return in the coming days through the specially arranged trains and flights from outside.
The returnees are being put up at various quarantine centres of the state for a few days where their samples will be taken and if found negative, they will be allowed to go for home quarantine.
The chief minister said a special train scheduled from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on Monday will carry 317 people belonging to Meghalaya.
