State Cong to hold online agitation

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) will organise an online campaign across the state on Thursday between 11 am and 2 pm to raise the plight of the workers in unorganised sector due to the “unplanned” lockdown with the Union government, the MPCC said in a statement.
The party, through the campaign, will demand the Centre to make direct cash transfer of Rs 10,000 to all the families outside the income tax bracket, the statement added.
The MPCC said that migrant workers, farmers, workers in the unorganised sectors as well as daily wage earners have been primarily affected due to the lockdown and the Union government needs to address their pressing needs.
It may be mentioned that the campaign will also be undertaken at the national level by the AICC.
