SHILLONG: The secretary of the Askikandi VEC of West Garo Hills, Mofidur Rahman, has filed a police complaint against Nazmul Hashan for allegedly demanding Rs 2 lakh as commission from the material and wage component of two work orders already executed by the VEC.
In the latest complaint, Rahman said the incident happened on May 18 but he could not file the FIR due to the ongoing lockdown. He also alleged that Hashan threatened him.
Earlier, Hashan, accused Rahman of misusing MGNREG fund and had also filed a complaint with Demdema Block Development Officer PR Sangma on ‘widespread misappropriation’ of government funds.
Sangma, also the Programme Officer for the MGNREG scheme in the Demdema Community and Rural Development Block, had registered an FIR against VEC secretary Rahman on May 13.
When contacted, police sources said this is a case of claim and counter claim even as they added that the matter is under investigation.
