Lucknow: A cattle smuggler in Meerut somehow managed to escape from police custody claiming not to hold him by `hands’ as he was corona positive.
Interestingly, the cops later tried to hush up their negligence asking the cattle owner to forget the incident as the miscreants failed to take his cow. However, as the entire incident was recorded in CCTV so the dairy owner reported the matter to the senior officers and sought action against the cops.
SP City Akhilesh Narain Singh said that the matter was not in his knowledge but he will get the matter probed and take action if any negligence surface on part of the policemen. Police report said here on Saturday that one Dewaki Nandan Sharma, a resident of Agresen Bhawan at Railway Road Crossing in Meerut was running a cow dairy. On Friday night, three miscreants entered into his dairy and stole one of the cows.
As they were trying to pull it out of the dairy, Sharma woke up and raised an alarm.
He and other family members managed to nab two of the accused but one managed to escape. Both the held miscreants were handed over to police.
The matter took an interesting turn when the third miscreant again entered the dairy in the wee hours of Saturday to enquire about his accomplices but was too nabbed by Sharma. He again called the police and handed the third accused to police. (UNI)
