JOWAI: Local MLA Wailadmiki Shylla will provide Rs 5000 each to 800 households affected by heavy rain and storm which lashed the district in the past few days.
Speaking to media persons, Shylla informed that he had sanctioned Rs 40 lakh to those whose cultivable land was damaged by the rain and storm.
Shylla also convened a meeting in Jowai with all heads of departments and asked them to assess the damage under his constituency.
“I have directed them to expedite the assessment and estimate the cost so that it can be presented before the government for sanction, particularly the repair of both the highway and state roads,” Shylla said.
Shylla also informed that though the damage has not been properly assessed, it is estimated that the loss will be around Rs 14 to 15 crore, adding that he is hopeful that the government will sanction the funds immediately for repair work.
