Cong celebrates Ri Bhoi foundation day

Nongpoh: The Nongpoh Block Congress Committee (NBCC) on Thursday celebrated the 28th Foundation Day of Ri Bhoi District in a low-key affair at Pahamsyiem.
Ri Bhoi had attained district status on June 4, 1994.
The celebration was attended by MLA Mayralborn Syiem, MDC Balajied Rani, president of the NBCC Plielad Tiewsoh and other party leaders and workers.
Syiem reminded the gathering of the sacrifices and the vision of leaders like former chief minister DD Lapang, composer of the Ri Bhoi anthem (L) Rolinshon Shadap, (L) E. Syiem, (L) Fr. Sngi and others who were instrumental in Ri Bhoi getting the district status.
Lapang greets people
The Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya and former chief minister DD Lapang extended his best wishes to the people of the district on the occasion of its 28th Foundation Day.
Lapang also lauded the efforts of the frontline workers, saying that they had done a commendable job in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also called on the people to display the true spirit of unity, irrespective of faith, and urged the political parties to come together in the fight against the pandemic.
