Order to close illegal shops
WILLIAMNAGAR:  The Williamnagar Municipal Board (WMB) has directed to shut down all illegal shops set up across Williamnagar, warning the unauthorised vendors of action for illegally setting up shops, and selling vegetables and meat on the roadside, without getting the nod from concerned authorities. According to a statement from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WMB, such vendors have set up shops on the roadside between Rangmal Badim and Kolmesalgre tri-junction and Rangmal Badim and Ku’”simkolgre Forest Gate in Williamnagar. The statement also said that illegal sale of meat and vegetables in different localities, including the banks of river Simsang, footpath, etc., have been reported.

CJ pays maiden visit to Baghmara
TURA: Chief Justice of Meghalaya Biswanath Somaddar, on Tuesday, paid his maiden visit to Baghmara in South Garo Hills District. He was accompanied by his wife. District officials including Deputy Commissioner HB Marak and Superintendent of Police Priyanshu Pandey, in the presence of ADCs, BDOs, EACs, executive magistrates and other heads of departments, received Somaddar at the helipad arranged at Baghmara Sports Playground. After checking in at the Circuit House Baghmara, the chief justice inspected the under-construction permanent court complex at Baghmara and the Judicial Building at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office complex. Somaddar also visited the Pitcher Plant Sanctuary located in the heart of the town.

Night curfew in Ri Bhoi
NONGPOH: The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, in an order issued, extended the night curfew in the entire district till June 15 between 9 pm and 5 am. Owing to the rapid rise in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in Assam, the district administration of Ri Bhoi has also prohibited the interstate movement of people. The screening and checking at the COVID-19 screening centre at 13 Mile Byrnihat has also been intensified.

Wine shops to open in EJH
KHLIEHRIAT: The Deputy Commissioner (Excise) of East Jaintia Hills informed that wine shops and bonded warehouses, possessing renewed licenses for 2020-21, have been permitted to open in the district between 9 am and 4 pm from Monday to Friday. Meanwhile, the District Magistrate, in an order, informed that all shops operating from fixed premises will open from 9 am to 4 pm in the district barring barber shops, beauty parlours, salons, spas and other rejuvenating centres.
