Officers Club & Mawkyrwat village condemn violence

MAWKYRWAT: The Officers Club of South West Khasi Hills district and Mawkyrwat village condemned the burning of the vehicle of the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) at Mawkyrwat market on Thursday.
In a statement issued to the media, the Officers Club said that the district administration along with the officers had worked so hard and given everything to protect the local people from the spread of coronavirus by teaching them what to do and what not to do. Therefore, the Club has expressed regrets that the incident happened at a time when the officers have provided dedicated service to the people of the district.
The Dorbar Shnong Mawkyrwat in the presence of the office bearers of the Seng Samla Shnong, Seng Longkmie and VDP held an urgent meeting on the evening of June 11 and condemned the incident which has tarnished the image of Mawkyrwat and affected the law and order.
The meeting has also urged upon the authorities to arrest the people involved in the incident and book them according to the law.
The Dorbar Shnong also urged the DSWO, L. Lyngdoh not to be afraid but to perform his duty and continue with the good work for the benefit of the people.
The meeting also condemned the miscreants who were involved in the assault of the NHIDCL engineer besides damaging his vehicle at Tynrong on Sunday.
The Dorbar Shnong of Mawkyrwat has also warned all the citizens and NGOs that it will not allow anyone to take the law into their own hands.
