Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced the country’s readiness to exchange more prisoners with the United States, state TV reported.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi on Thursday referred to recent diplomatic efforts which resulted in the release of prisoners of both sides, saying that if the ground is prepared for further swap of prisoners, the Islamic republic will use all its diplomatic capacity to free the Iranians in US jails.

Last week, Iran freed US navy veteran Michael White who has been in Iran’s jail for “espionage” charges. Concurrently, the US released the Iranian scientist, Majid Taheri, who had been in the US jail for “violating US sanctions against Iran.” (IANS)
