SBI official clarifies on GSU allegation

TURA: The Branch Manager of the Ampati Branch of the SBI in South West Garo Hills has clarified on the allegations made by the local unit of the GSU with regard to a non-functional ATM.

According to the official, no official complaint has been received from anyone including the GSU till date with regard to the matter.

“The said ATM has been down since May 30 due to Card reader problem and requires part replacement. A complaint was made to the service provider on June 1 for technician’s visit. However, the technician from Guwahati has not been able to come to Ampati due to travel restrictions,” the official informed.

With regard to the faulty Swayam machine (self service passbook updating kiosk), the official said that it could not be repaired as the authorized service vendor terminated their contract and contracting of new vendors is not done at the branch level.

“This was explained to the GSU during their visit to the branch in April. A new machine has been acquired from a new vendor and the same will be installed as soon as the vendor’s technician visits the branch,” the official added.
