SHILLONG: Peeved with the delay in appointing a full-time Chairman-cum-Managing Director not below the rank of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL), the MeECL Joint Action Committee (JAC) has given a month-long deadline to the state government while warning of agitation if the demand is unfulfilled.
In a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday, the Committee said that the government should also appoint a full-time Finance Director, who is also an IAS.
The Committee lamented that MeECL along with its subsidiaries MePDCL, MePGCL and MePTCL, has been functioning without a full-time chairman since December last year, while sans Finance Director for the past two years
According to the committee, there were no representatives from the Power and Finance departments in the recent meetings of the Board of Directors of MeECL and its subsidiaries.
