SHILLONG: In view of many areas in the state being hit by the pandemic, the Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), on Thursday, donated Rs 83,967 to an NGO, Rural 7trep Aid, which provides relief to villages across Meghalaya financially affected by COVID-19.
The cheque was handed over to Aiban S Mawkhroh, Director, operations, Rural 7trep Aid.
The villages have minimal access to public resources such as PDS and health facilities. Beneficiaries of the relief include a group of people who rely on nascent rural tourism-related trades which have taken a severe hit on account of the pandemic.
Some of the villages in the list of beneficiaries are Khatar Shnong, Tyrna and Mawshamok in East Khasi Hills.
