Karbi body donates fund
Leaders of the All Meghalaya Karbi Association, an apex body of the Karbi (Mikirs) tribe of Meghalaya, on Friday donated Rs 40,000 towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The amount was handed over to the Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner.
Rath Yatra
Jagannath Mandir, Thana Road, Shillong has informed there will be no Rath Yatra Festival (chariot pulling) outside the temple premises in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Devotees have been asked to refrain from making offerings and to avoid any gathering inside or outside the temple premises.
JH closes bars
The deputy commissioners of East and West Jaintia Hills districts have ordered closure of all IMFL ‘ON’ license stores including bars till June 30. The orders were issued in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Office-bearers
The Phulbari Regional Unit of the All India Garo Union was re-constituted recently with Bebilson M Marak as president, Rubison M Sangma as vice-president, Dilip M Marak as general secretary and Arthu Sangma as finance secretary, besides several other members.
Clarification
The person who met with an accident in Police Bazar after being hit by a scooty has been identified as Samiran Dutta and not as Sunil Ram Dutta.
