SHILLONG: After several delays, the Polo market project is finally ready for inauguration.
Urban Affairs Minister Hamletson Dohling, who inspected the project site on Tuesday, said that he will fix a meeting with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma with regard to the inauguration of the project.
The National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), which executed the project, has already handed it over to the Urban Affairs department.
A committee has been formed for allocation of the 297 stalls in the Polo market which will also verify and examine all the previous shopkeepers and allot a space in the market to them.
Over Rs 23 crore has been sanctioned for the project on a 5,000 square metre plot of land, where the earlier market was located.
Previously, the government had also proposed to acquire the triangle junction in Polo area alongside the implementation of the Polo market project.
