Fresh lockdown in Kamrup Metro District including Guwahati city till July 12 from Sunday midnight

GUWAHATI: Assam government has declared total lockdown in Kamrup Metropolitan district including Guwahati city from Sunday midnight till July 12 next in view of community transmission of COVID-19 cases in Guwahati city.

During the first seven days of the fresh lockdown period even grocery and vegetables shops will remained closed and it will be reviewed after seven days.

No offices and business establishments will be allowed to function while government directorates and offices in secretariate offices will function with officers from joint secretary and aboove ranks with skeletal staff.

Along with the fresh lockdown in Kamrup Metropolitan district, the state government has declared 7 pm to 7 am curfew from today in the entire state.

There will be total week-end lockdown ( on Saturdays and Sundays) in all urban centres in the state except in Guwahati city from this week.

State Health Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today said the people of Guwahati city and other parts of Kamrup Metro district have been forced to pay with another harsh lockdown because majorty of them have not worn face masks, maintained social distancing after relaxation of earlier phase of lockdown.

 

What are allowed during fresh lockdown in Kamrup Metro, Guwahati city

Guwahati, June 26: Following services are allowed during next phase of lockdown in Kamrup Metropolitan district including Guwahati city that comes to effect from Monday (June 29) to July 12 next :

  • Movement defence personnel, police personnel, firemen, power department staff, water supply staff, Guwahati Municipal Corporation staff
  • Movements of vehicles of District magistrates/deputy commissioners, city police commissioners
  • Pharmacies/Hospitals/medical laboratories/ Covid care centres
  • Banks with skeletal staff
  • Bank ATM service
  • Print/electronic media and movement of newspaper hawkers
  • Telecommunication/ Internet service providers and their staff
  • Hotel with COVID quarantine facilities
  • Milk vending/baby foods selling
  • Air/Railway services/vehicles carrying essentials
  • State government directorates/secretariat with skeletal staff
  • In secretariat only officers in the rank of joint secretary and above will be allowed
  • Petrol pumps

 

What are not allowed:

 

  • No grocery shops/ vegetables outlets will be allowed during the first seven days
  • Movement of no person and vehicle on the road without emergency and exempted purposes.
  • Inter-district travel to and fro Kamrup Metropolitan district
