SHILLONG: An under-construction RCC building in Lumkartik Lane, a suburb in Harisabha area of Laban, is posing danger to the neighbouring residents and pedestrians.
The construction site, located on the midway diversion of the L-shaped lane, is opened on all sides instead of putting the mandatory cover.
Those affected said that construction work is being carried out on this residential lane by the owner without any care or concern for the neighbouring houses and pedestrians.
The earlier Assam-type house belonged to a city-based doctor and it was bought by a person from Mawlai. A tall RCC structure is being raised now.
There are complaints that due to the ongoing uncovered construction activities, pieces of woods, concrete and dust particles, bamboos, cement bags and others are dropped from the construction site into the properties of the surrounding houses.
There are even complaints that whenever water tankers give supplies to the construction site, water gushes out from the top of the double-storey building and sandy water along with debris flow into the premises of other residents.
Even the centering and shuttering work carried out by the workers is endangering the lives of the adjoining residents, who said that the narrow lane with houses on all sides is being subjected to the inconveniences.
