SHILLONG: Hinging itself on the public declaration made by one of the MLAs, state BJP has reiterated its demand to make public the utilisation of the Rs 25-lakh MLA scheme allotted to provide relief to the people during the COVID-19-induced lockdown.
After Sanbor Shullai, now party legislator AL Hek is left to make the declaration of the expenditures under the scheme, which, according to the BJP, is coming soon.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, state BJP president, Ernest Mawrie, maintained that it is expected of all the leaders in the state to put equal efforts at par with the Centre.
“We hope the amount (Rs 25 lakh) was used judiciously,” Mawrie said.
The BJP chief said the party is not after mileage but wants to lead by example.
All district deputy commissioners were empowered to release Rs 25 lakh to each legislator from the MLA Scheme 2020-21 to provide relief to the people affected by the lockdown.
