Lock down in Shillong on July 13 and 14

SHILLONG:  In the wake of spike in COVID-19 positive cases, Meghalaya government has announced lock down in the capital city of Shillong on July 13 and 14 next.

The Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has announced the complete lock down in Shillong agglomeration mainly to trace contacts of COVID-19 positive cases reported in Shillong. He has called upon all citizens to cooperate.

During this time, Shillong city and surrounding areas shall be under curfew till 6 AM of the 15th of July, 2020.

COVID STATUS IN MEGHALAYA

Total active cases in the state as of now is 236 including 205 in East Khasi Hills (EKH) district, 20 in Ri Bhoi district,  two in East Jaintia Hills district and nine in West Garo Hills district.

Out of the total positive cases of 205 in EKH district 159 are among the BSF personnel, two are from IAF.

From the 41 persons who had attended the marriage party at Greenwood Resort in Khanapara, 10 have tested positive. Contact tracing is likely to  take the number of positive cases higher. The government hopes the two-day lock down will help in contacts tracing.

Forty-five persons have recovered from COVID-19 in the state so far.
