TURA: A legislator from West Garo Hills has set an example for other politicians to emulate by turning up for a COVID-19 swab test along with his entire entourage at the testing centre in the interstate bus terminus (ISBT) following his return from Shillong on Sunday evening.
NPP’s Raksamgre MLA, Benedic R Marak, who is also the co-chairman of Meghalaya Planning Board, turned up at the corona testing centre along with his personal assistant, his driver and entire security team to undergo tests before heading into quarantine.
“It is the duty of every responsible citizen to adhere to the health norms and follow the guidelines,” Marak said after giving his swab test. The Raksamgre legislator is one of the first legislators to go for a corona test after the West Garo Hills district administration issued a direction making it mandatory for all travellers coming into the region from East Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi districts to register themselves and undertake medical tests of both rapid and RT-PCR including home quarantine.
