City sees respite from rain

SHILLONG: After almost a week of incessant downpour, Shillong finally heaved a sigh of relief with the sky clearing for most part of the day on Tuesday. However, rain kept pouring in other parts of the landlocked state with one of the village in West Khasi Hills reporting an incident of landslide.
According to a report from the department of Disaster Management, a landslide after heavy rainfall occurred in one village under Mawthadraishan C&RD Block on Tuesday.
The report said that a house was partially damaged.
The rain also led to the shutdown of the PHE drinking water supply and also damaged roads, the report added. Two hectares of crop area were affected as per reports.
