66 KNP animals perish in flood so far

GUWAHATI: As many as 66 animals have died in the floods in Assam’s Kaziranga national park.

P Shivkumar, Director of Kaziranga national park, informed “This year’s flood was among the most devastating ones in recent times in the state. So far, 66 animals have died and 170 animals have been rescued from the national park,”

The forest officials are being assisted by the civil administration, police administration, NGOs and the villagers in the area in tackling the flood-time emergency in the National Park which has been submerged up to 95 %.

Assam Chief Minister , Sarbananda Sonowal is visiting flood-hit KNP  and its neighbouring  areas on Thursday to assess the situation and talk to flood-hit people in the area.
