Church clarifies on denial of burial to baby

NONGPOH: The Presbyterian Church, Umran Dairy, Umsning on Wednesday clarified on the denial of burial to a baby.
A joint statement issued by GT Lyngdoh, Chairman and D Marbaniang, Secretary of the Presbyterian Church, Umran Dairy, Umsning District, said that the mother of the baby, Wanrida Lyngdoh and her mother P. Lyngdoh were no longer part of the Presbyterian Church, Umran Dairy, Umsning District, but they have formed their own Church christened the Presbyterian Church Umran Dairy, Nongthymmai District under the leadership of P. Mynsong.
They also informed that following the formation of the Presbyterian Church Umran Dairy, Nongthymmai District, it was approved by Mawbuh Ri Bhoi Presbytery, KJP Synod Sepngi and they have their own Church and a cemetery.
‘It was only after we received a request from the grieving families and the Dorbar Shnong of Umran Dairy to allow burial of the baby in our cemetery that the Church under the leadership of GT Lyngdoh and D Marbaniang along with other members of the Church Committee, and based on the request of the Government and the Dorbar Shnong that we have decided to allow the burial of the baby in our cemetery, and we will not allow similar thing in future’, the statement said.
On the allegations against Lam Bina, the headman of Umran Dairy that he is acting as the elder of the Presbyterian Church Umran Dairy, Umsning District, Lyngdoh and Marbaniang said that the Presbyterian Church Umran Dairy, Umsning District has always taken a decision as per the Committee of the Church and not as alleged.
