MLA asks govt to review education system

SHILLONG: With results of board exams in the state gradually being announced, Mawsynram MLA HM Shangpliang has suggested that the government should re-examine the education system to ensure every student gets an opportunity to study further in the state.
In this regard, Shangpliang said that he has appealed to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui as most of the students may not be able to go and study outside the state due to the present situation prevailing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shangpliang was speaking at the review meeting between the government and Opposition leaders.
During the meeting, the MLA said that opportunities should be explored in order to provide a fitting place for the students to pursue their education in the state.
“We know engineering and medical is next to impossible in the current year, hence, we have to look forward to upgrading to such kind of avenues”, he said.
